Although Chris Avellone (Chris Avellone) and got into the center of the scandal, yet he had a hand in a number of outstanding games, so the interest in his person does not fade away. The developer hosted a Twitter Q&A session, which was mostly dedicated to the Fallout series projects.

  • According to Avellone, Bethesda herself offered the team a cash bonus if Fallout: New Vegas received a Metacritic score of 84 or higher. At that time, Obsidian had already gone through a wave of layoffs, so they would not have been affected by the bonus (or lack of it).

  • A fan asked how many New Vegas developers stayed at Obsidian. “About twenty out of the original seventy,” the screenwriter replied. He emphasized that many of the remaining twenty held key positions in the development of New Vegas. Also, Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain, one of the creators of the first Fallout.

  • Some fans are not satisfied with what Bethesda turns Fallout. Avellone replied that he did not hate the company for the chosen course for the series. Moreover, he even praised her for supporting the franchise and adding a new level of immersion to the open world of the Wasteland.

Marketing department Bethesda has more power than Interplayand it probably helped Fallout reach out to more “mainstream” players. T-shirts with Fallout hanging in the “Target” is not easy.

  • The session was not bypassed by the question of a sequel New Vegas (according to rumors, many in Microsoft interested in continuing). Avellone does not know anything about the project, but suggested that the game is unlikely to be called New Vegas 2.
  • Avellone admitted he didn’t play Fallout 76but touched the third and fourth parts.
    • The specialist both praised and scolded Fallout 3. For example, he liked that Dogmeat could search for and bring weapons. This came in handy when the developer dropped brass knuckles and couldn’t find it on his own — a shaggy satellite came to the rescue.

    • Among the minuses, Avellone singled out Dogmeat’s too loud breathing, if you do not touch the sound settings, and the “Repair” skill has become too valuable, although it works better than in the first two numbered parts. Also, the screenwriter is indignant that he did not have the opportunity to kill Amata or Andy’s robot, since both characters enrage him.

    • Fallout 4 didn’t keep Chris for more than three hours. The stop factor was some problem with game design, due to which the writer never returned to the game.

Recall that Chris Avellone worked on Fallout 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Also on his track record Planescape: Torment, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, Prey 2017 and many other projects.
