Work culture scandals in Activision Blizzardseems to be far from complete. This time around, the focus is on the hefty bonuses that Bobby Kotick is set to receive as a result of a deal with Microsoft.

US Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Sheldon Whitehouse and Cory Booker have sent a letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan. A group of politicians recalled a number of accusations that employees Activision Blizzard put forward against their leadership: gender discrimination, sexual harassment, flourishing masculinity, refusal to hire employees for a permanent position, and so on.

In many ways, the blame for the situation is placed on Bobby Kotick – he is also the CEO Activision Blizzard, somehow. But, according to the senators, the merger with Microsoft plays into Kitty’s hands and avoids responsibility:

Over 1,800 employees Activision Blizzard signed a letter demanding the dismissal of Bobby Kotik from the organization – this is one of the key demands of the union within the company. However, a deal with Microsoft protects Mr. Kotick, allows him to remain as CEO until at least 2023, and guarantees hundreds of millions in revenue, as well as a potential additional golden parachute worth over $14.5 million if he does not voluntarily resign. This lack of accountability, contrary to the calls of shareholders, employees and the public, will be an unacceptable result of association with Microsoft.

Senators urge the Federal Trade Commission to consider these and other circumstances listed. The state agency has not yet given final consent to the merger Microsoft And Activision Blizzard.

Representative Activision Blizzard has already spoken about the letter of the senators: it is alleged that in a deal with Microsoft no additional special compensation for Kotick, and the merger should benefit all shareholders, including employees ActiBlizz. The topic of working culture was raised by the representative Microsoft: “We believe that Activision Blizzard will continue to make progress in this regard. We will continue to support actions in this direction when the deal is completed.”

Activision Blizzard are now torn apart on many fronts: for example, two shareholders recently sued the company due to a merger with Microsoftand the issue with the trade union in Raven Software stretches further. In addition, US government agencies intended to arrange a larger investigation into inappropriate behavior inside Activision Blizzard.
